About This Crazy Person
My name is Rebecca. I have many hobbies, though few loves (one of which is my husband :D), and I am always striving to learn new things. One thing that sometimes drives me crazy is the extreme need for efficiency and organization. My eye looks for things to fix and improve.
That is the main reason why this blog was created: to tell others about what I have learned in my quest to do things better and cheaper and how I did them. Necessity spurs this attitude, as the vast majority of our income goes to bills, food, and paying for my degree. If I can do something well and free (or much cheaper than just buying it), I consider that a success.
I am happily married to a wonderful Christian man. We both strive to increase our Christian faith through reading, study, fellowship, and living how the Bible says a Christian should live in order to show the wonder and glory of God. I would like to encourage any readers to give me a hearing, not based on assumptions or prejudices, but on the soundness of my statements. I search for truth. Truth should be able to stand the test of great, but most importantly honest, scrutiny. I believe that is a critical component of the intellectual, academic mind.
As far as hobbies and loves go, which will encompass the majority of this blog, I will try to be brief. I caught my grandfather's addiction to orchids and find their culture fascinating. Strange little epiphytes. Though long before that I created my own addictions to the silly and wonderful creatures known as goats, to whom I wish to devote the focus of my career. They are much neglected in this country when it comes to distribution of knowledge and attention given to their study.
I used to have goats and other livestock, but have since had to sell them in order to pursue my degree. Someday I hope to have a few again. I do miss my people so much. They have such silly faces. The care of the goat is one of my passions and I will definitely include the information I known on this website. Goats and sheep are not the same thing.
I am also a writer and editor, mostly of fantasy and sci-fi as that is what most interests me. I read The Dragonriders of Pern as a girl and was hooked henceforth. I then devoured just about everything at the time, including Jordan, Weis and Hickman, Burroughs, Brooks, and many others I actually have forgotten the names of. I am published in the Procyon Short Story Anthology 2014 for the story "Sacrifice" and am currently working on an epic fantasy novel.
Other things include cooking, knitting, handspinning, painting, gardening, sewing, and interior design. A normal housewife raised in the country, I like to think. :D
If you need to contact me, please keep emails brief and to the point. It may also take me some time to respond to emails. Thank you for your patience.
